The Opening Ceremony was officiated by Mr. Thomas Lin, Assistant Commissioner of the Hong Kong Customs who, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of high-1quality capacity building in order to better contend with the challenges that Customs Administrations are encountering under the ever-changing international trade environment.
The Meeting was presided by Mr. Chi Kong Fan, Commandant of the Customs and Excise Training School and discussed a range of capacity-building issues and initiatives including “E-Learning”, “Technology and “Virtual Customs Orientation”.
The Meeting also noted reports from the regional RTCs as well as interventions and discussions by the attendees.
A field visit to the RTC Hong Kong China also afforded the delegates valuable insight into the capacity building services provided there by way of specialised training facilities such as the simulation training rooms, shooting range and the passenger examination cubicle. A demonstration was also conducted by the RTC Hong Kong China to showcase their e-learning system for the benefit of the delegates.
