During the 24^th WCO A/P Regional Heads of Customs Administrations Conference held in May 2023, the A/P members unanimously nominated Hong Kong, China as the next Vice-Chairperson for the A/P Region of the WCO.  The nomination was confirmed by A/P members in the Regional Consultations of the 141^st / 142^nd Customs Co-operation Council Sessions of the WCO held in June 2023. 

The nomination was subsequently approved by acclamation at the 143^rd / 144^th Customs Co-operation Council Sessions of WCO on 29 June 2024.  Hong Kong, China took up the position on 1 July 2024 for a term of two years until 30 June 2026.
